The Harmonium-Museum in Liestal, near Basle (plan) - inaugurated in January 1992 - offers a glance into the fascinating world of the reed organ. More than 100 instruments (including organs and pianos), dated from about 1800 to 1970 are on display on the three floors of the museum. Dieter Stalders collection consists of bigger and smaller reed organs, originating from Europe and the USA. Many of these astonishing instruments will be heard during guided tours and concerts in the museum. The unique collection has been opened to the public in the confidence that this almost forgotten, often ridiculed and neglected musical instrument will regain respect and may give pleasure to the visitors. Guided tours are only available for groups. Advanced reservation is necessary (Telephone 061/921 64 10, 19-20 h). |
